We had an electrical fire at our house. Thank God, my husband happened to be on that side of the house when he saw the sparks coming out of the electrical box. He was able to run in and let up know there was a fire and run back out with a blanket.
My first thought was the kids, but the two oldest had already picked up the younger ones and they were all running out the front door. So, what did I grab? My laptop. It has all my writing on it. Included chapters of original fiction. Some is back up with an online company and some I haven't loaded there yet. So it went out with me.
My husband was able to get the fire out and there is very little cosmetic damage. But, our electricity can not be turned on.
We are staying at my mom's.
We have to decide if we want to put any more cash into our money pit or if we are going to just walk away (which my husband and both hate the idea of). We may end up renting. Which I haven't had to so since I was twenty years old. I have been a home owner since I was twenty-one, with one brief time in between homes living with my mom.
We just put in 4,000.00 dollars into our house for repairs and the problems just keep coming, one after another. It's not worth what we owe on it and there is no way we could sell it.
Because I'm on dial up and have no way to get what's on my laptop onto my mother's old computer, I will not be updating In Harm's Way, until I can find time to find wifi service somewhere. Hopefully tomorrow.
The good thing: We are alive and safe. I realized that there is nothing in my home that I was attached to, but my family, pets and my laptop. LOL. If everything would have burned up, I wouldn't have cared. Things can be replaced.
